Job Post: Mining Manager (D-Level)

GRADE: D - LEVEL

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering

  • Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Coal)

  • Management programme qualification will be advantageous

  • At least 5 years mining experience in management position with exposure to stonework, dykes, faults, low seam, conventional drill and blast, development and stooping, continuous miner development and stooping and managing people at this level effectively

  • Knowledge of mining legislation (eg Mine Health and Safety Act, No29 of 1996)

  • Sound knowledge Microsoft programmes and computer skills

  • Sound knowledge in safety management systems

  • Sound Knowledge in Mine Planning and Technical services

  • Knowledge in cost control and budgeting

  • Good communication and decision-making skills

  • Capable to work under pressure

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Ability to obtain certificate of fitness

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure legal requirements, procedures and standards are complied with.

  • Effectively manage safety management systems to achieve zero harm

  • Ensuring Production optimization and meeting targets

  • Ensuring Stone work developments optimization and meeting targets

  • Planning of short, medium- and long-term mining activities.

  • Management of Operational mining activities and technical services that supplement it

  • Lamproom management

  • Effective equipment management and optimization

  • Budget and cost control management.

  • Effective people management

  • Manage training and development within department

  • Making good decisions in the interest of the company

  • Project Management
