Job Post: Boilermaker
Zululand Anthracite Colliery would like to recruit a Boilermaker to be based at the Maye –B section.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
N3 Mathematics or Equivalent
Recognized Trade Test
At least 5 years post trade test experience in fabrication, repairs and maintenance.
Driver’s License (Code 8/EB)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on main conveyors and underground machines/equipment
Scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on water column.
Build belt drives, tail ends and transfer points
Rebuild production machines.
Study job cards and determine maintenance/work to be done
Keep proper service records on work completed
Construct, assemble, maintain and repair equipment or structures by providing specialised boiler-making skills (including plating and welding)
Investigate, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements.
Attend to defects raised on pre-start reports, breakdown sheets and inspection reports.
Provide relevant feedback to the Foreman and co-workers regarding equipment performance and conditions.
Carry out scheduled and non-scheduled repairs and maintenance
Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedures
Planning of activities must be in accordance with production schedules and allocation of resources
Assist with the lifting of heavy equipment.
Weld metal components, install gauges or controls, fabricate parts or components, assemble products or production equipment, inspect equipment to ensure proper operation
Repair or replace defective parts on valves, vessels, etc.
Ensure safe use of tools, machinery and equipment, including training on safety gear and procedures.
All safety devices must be in place and functional.
Train and develop subordinates
Maintain good housekeeping.
Ensure maximum availability of equipment
Enforce safety, health and environmental integrity principles applicable to area of responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE
Manufacturing of Chutes, Funnels, Pipes, Cones, Boilers and Receivers.
Knowledge of Mig, Arc, Coded and Argon welding.
Oxyacetylene Equipment usage
Knowledge of Underground Machinery
Must be able to adapt his/her plans to suit any changes
Coveys’ information to individuals, ensures that they understand
Innovating ways to deal with engineering related problems
SKILLS:
Organising the engineering activities in area of responsibility
Must take decisions on how to best maintain equipment
Take initiative in solving engineering-based problems
Must be able to manage any conflict that occurs between the various stakeholders
Must be strong on troubleshooting
Any engineering related problems, must be solved promptly
ABILITIES:
Must be result driven to ensure cost effectiveness
Must be aware of all safety related issues.
Must be able to supervise the activities of the sub-ordinates reporting to him/her
Setting high standards of performance of self and others; assuming responsibility and accounting for successfully completing the assignment or task
